RDG Begins Renovation of Old Desert Sands Property
RDG assumed the ownership of a dilapidated property at
208 North Main Street previously know as the "Desert Sands"
building.
Chip King of MWP, LLC
Contractors and Howard Solomon of C.M. Solomon and Son Excavating have
volunteered their services to perform the demolition of the building. MWP,
LLC Contractors is a Mechanical, Welding and Piping contractor
specializing in heavy commercial and industrial maintenance and
construction. C.M. Solomon and Son Excavating specializes in site
construction working locally and in the Research Triangle Park and Raleigh
Area. Both companies are locally owned and based out of Roxboro, NC.
RDG envisions developing the property as possibly a restaurant
with residential condos or other businesses located on the upper
floors. The building encompasses approx. 3000 sq ft on each floor
with a basement and second level floor with a total possible area of 9000
sq ft. Proposed design reflect possibly two condos at 1350 sq ft each and
a restaurant seating approx. 80-100 customers. (Click

RDG has been awarded a pre-development grant by the N.C.
Rural Center. This $25,000 grant will fund:
1) market study 2) business plan development 3) design sketch 4)
marketing package. This should be completed by 5/1/2010
Johnson and Wales culinary school in Charlotte has also
been contacted to possibly arrange a relationship to supply chefs to the
new, upscale restaurant.
