Recent Accomplishments of RDG

 
  • Performing renovation of Desert Sands - saved City $35K in demolition cost alone!
  • Almost 2 dozen facade grants evaluated and awarded in last 2 years.
  • Worked to preserve old Tultex mill in East Roxboro - now developed as new Charter School. www.roxborocommunityschool.org
  • Awarded State grant and raised over $100K for Merritt Commons and Main. Street Pavilion - no local funds used to construct.
  • Provided input on multiple Strategic Planning committees.
  • Passed ordinance forbidding building use for storage.
  • Working with Police Chief to improve parking and safety.
  • Assisted Health Dept. in establishing a walking trail.
  • Worked to establish "Director's Roundtable" to coordinate several agencies working together to promote and improve Roxboro and Person County.
  • Implemented several Main Street Program enhancements to city.
  • Several property owners recently invested thousands of dollars in their businesses.
  • Coordinated efforts to bring "Personality" festival back to Main Street.
  • Worked with new building owners to bring Vesuvio's II, Daltons Bar and Grille, and Tricia's Espresso. Supported several venues to establish a "tourist stop" i.e. Barrister's B&B, Museum displays, Kirby Art Gallery, restaurants, walking tour, historic home tour, Merritt Commons and many more.
